In Reversing Your Biological Age, David’s talk covers several topics and he gives tips that we can all apply to slow, even reverse our biological age. For example, on how to deal with Chronic Stress, which has a detrimental effect on your immune system function, as well as how as on how your body responds to hidden inflammation. Another area is excessive muscle wastage which can start after 50. This loss is a big cause of premature aging so how can we counteract it? Tips on how to overcome self-defeating behaviour will also be discussed.

Sandy Logan will give practical advice on feet and ankle health. Our bodies are like a chain, with one link–or bone–connecting at the joint to another link. If one link is faulty it over stresses the next one up the kinetic chain and so on. Why? If the normal way of walking is painful, we instinctively change our walking pattern. Say, for example, you have arthritis, and your big toe joint hurts, so you change your gait to avoid bending the joint when you walk. This will change the mechanics of your ankle joint, eventually causing ankle pain. This change in your walking pattern can also affect the whole chain of your lower body… from the ankle, to the knee, to the hip. But knee and hip problems can also be caused by non-pain problems in the feet and ankles. Find out what you can do.

Lisa Marie will deal with the subject of inflammation. According to a number of studies, poor nutrition makes up 40% of the stress experienced by most North Americans. Your inflammatory response mechanism is a vital part of a healthy immune response. But poor nutrition places too much stress on the system. It’s known that elevated inflammation markers are a risk factor for many of the most common diseases of aging— asthma, allergies and arthritis. It’s also a key factor in skin aging and other outward signs of aging. Lisa Marie will help you avoid these problems.

Diana Kaile talks about the benefits Yoga for Seniors, including healthier bones, improved flexibility, stress release, better circulation and so on. If you have less flexibility, you are more likely to fall. Diana’s yoga classes have had many senior participants so she knows from experience how to accommodate this segment of the population.

“If only I knew then what I know now!” Who hasn’t said once during or after middle age? The workshop Secrets to Aging Well will give you the chance to avoid saying it in your 80s and 90s.
