A national, bilingual, toll-free service offering comprehensive information on cancer. Up-to-date information on a variety of cancer related topics, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment. The Cancer Information Service can help people find cancer related services and programs in their local community. For other languages, an interpreter service is available.

There is a new colorectal program as of April 1st that is recommending patients should have a FIT (fecal immunochemical test) to do at home every two years if you are between the ages of 50-74 without symptoms. However people with a family history will be referred to their GP for a colonoscopy consult.

Healing With Whole Foods, Paul Pitchford – an excellent East meets West resource book (a cult classic!) including a large chapter on cancer and regeneration diets.

Beating Cancer With Nutrition, Patrick Quillin – written by a very experienced Nutritionist whom is very much a believer in whole foods and a whole person approach to healing.  A great step-by-step resource for those who want a plan spelled out for them.

Grains of Wisdom – The Callanish Cookbook – provides healing featuring delicious and healthy food, various activities/retreats for those with a cancer diagnosis.http://www.callanish.org/products/

The Jungle Effect, Dr. Daphne Miller – as great book regarding indigenous diets and why they are healthier and how we can return to a more whole, natural diet. Very easy to read, great resources within including grocery lists for various indigenous healthy diets.
